At A-Kidz Childcare, we have created a varied three-week rotational menu following the guidelines set out by Public Health England, Early Years menu guidance Example menus for early years settings in England
We are very aware of the need for a varied & balanced diet and the importance of providing food with the correct nutrients to set a positive path for your child's physical and mental development.
While we encourage children to experiment, we work closely with parents/carers to ensure we know what your child has already tried at home and build from there.
All food is freshly prepared on the premises, and each meal is designed with nutritional value. We provide breakfast, lunch, and tea. A mixture of fresh fruit and vegetables is served as snacks. Snacks are served with milk and water. We always provide drinking water throughout the day. Water bottles are used for outdoor play and visits.
Children are encouraged to self-serve during mealtimes, as this is a time for social interaction. Our carers sit with the children and have group discussions to involve all the children.
Our Carers will serve these children whilst ensuring they communicate with the child on how much they want to eat.
Babies are fed by staff; however, as they get older, they are encouraged to hold their utensils and try to feed themselves while a staff member is feeding them.
We strive to develop menus that consist of highly nutritious food items that have a homely feel and are packed with flavour. Our menus are seasonal and rotated every three weeks. They are carefully designed to provide a balanced diet for all our children. Each menu is informed by current guidelines to ensure it is nutritious and appealing for young children.
We can cater to children who need special diets for religious or medical
reasons. If your child has a food allergy or intolerance, we have strict procedures in place to ensure their safety.
Weaning: If your baby is currently weaning, we will work with you to help them move from pureed food to lumpy food and then to a regular diet.
