The government announced that they would be introducing several new measures to support working families to access early education and childcare. This included the expansion of early years funded entitlements from April 2024 onwards. At A-KiDz we offer funding 5 days a week term time only. (see breakdown further in this letter).

The new entitlements will be introduced in phases:

  • From April 2024, eligible working parents and carers of 2-year-olds can access 15 hours funded early education and childcare (over 38 weeks a year) from the term after their child’s 2nd birthday.
  • From September 2024, eligible working parents and carers of children aged 9 months and above can access 15 hours funded early education and childcare (over 38 weeks a year) from the term after their child turning 9 months.
  • From September 2025, the offer will be rolled out in full, with eligible working parents and carers of children aged 9 months and above are able to access 30 hours funded early education and childcare (over 38 weeks a year) from the term after their child turns 9 months.
  • By September 2026, all parents and carers who require wraparound childcare should be able to have access, either from their school or from another provider in their local area. The number of wraparound childcare places available for primary school aged children across the county will be increasing from September 2024 onwards in preparation for this.

The first phase of the expansion launched this month and allows working parents and carers of two-year-olds to claim 15 hours of funded early education and childcare for 38 weeks a year, from the term after their child’s 2nd birthday. A-KiDz have been working with Surrey County Council to support the implementation of these changes. We will offer you the opportunity to sit down and discuss these and see how they benefit you.  Please arrange a convenient time with the management team. Outlined below are how these changes will be implemented. Please note that we have very limited spaces in each room.

What is each child’s entitlement

The maximum free entitlement for three and four-year-olds is 15 hours per week for 38 weeks a year this is universal hours. Some eligible working parents will be able to access 30 hours of funded early education.

Working parents of two-year-olds may be eligible for up to 15 hours of funded early education and childcare a week for 38 weeks a year. From September 2024.

From September 2024 working parents of children aged 9 months and above may also be eligible for 15hrs funding, from the term following their child turning 9 months.

The free entitlement will commence a full term after the child’s third birthday.

Educational Grant FAQs

Part weeks at the beginning and end of the same term to make up full weeks, but only totals of 5 days will be funded. Any additional days not totalling five days will not be funded and if taken up should be paid for the parents.
EYFE funded places are only available during school term time so if your child attends the nursery during any school holidays (including half term) they will be charged the full prices for the sessions used. Price will be the current session price.
If you normally use less than 5 sessions per week you are therefore not utilising all of your funding entitlement. We are looking to introduce a scheme whereby a number (to be determined on a term-by-term basis) of unallocated sessions to be made available to parents so they can make use of their entitlement. Alternatively, parents can use there left over funding at another setting.

We will allocate a number of sessions for a term in advance so that they can be used as mentioned above.
We currently do not offer spread funding or wraparound childcare.
You will not see any monetary deductions on your invoice except the balance for funding; this is unfortunately the legal agreement of our provider agreement, which requires us not to disclose any entitlement as a deduction to be shown on parents’ invoice however the hours given in any month will be shown. Your invoice will be different every month so it may be easier to pay by bank transfer after receiving an invoice. This will save over or underpayment issues.

We will be ensuring all those entitled to the EYFE are correctly registered. Please do not hesitate to contact us, should you have any questions or require clarity.
